The brief was to design a large diameter 19″ wheel for the fastest car yet created by Peugeot, the RCZ R developed in conjunction with Peugeot Sport.
The wheel design work started with a future Peugeot Sport modified 208. My lightweight symmetrical design was one of the designs selected but the project was shelved until the RCZ was chosen as the flagship sports car.
The wheel design was beefed up to suit the chunky styling of the RCZ by adding wider side spokes, the proportions evolved to create a deep central dish with designed in slots that bury and hide the wheel nuts. The centre is inspired by quick release centre lock racing nuts.
The wheel is two tone, with dark grey inside surfaces and a diamond cut outer surface.
The finishing touch was added by another designer working on the exterior, a rim cut-out, that made space for the ‘R’ logo.
The Wheels were also featured on the Peugeot 308R concept car and were developed into a more extreme form fitted to the 2015 Exalt Concept car
