TESLA GT MUSCLECAR

I wanted to improve my Alias Automotive 3D modelling skills so I decided to create a car that belongs to a car category that I think needs to exist – All-American, electric muscle cars.
I chose to create a GT coupe, inspired by classic muscle cars for Tesla since they are an American brand and leaders in electric car technology.

TESLA GT CONVERTIBLE

Having completed the exterior 3D model of the Tesla GT Muscle car, it occurred to me that the shape could easily be transformed into an elegant convertible.
This meant that the model would require an interior, which I subsequently modeled directly in 3D.
Without a roof, the convertible’s exterior doesn’t have the same dynamic stance as the coupe, Instead, it’s perceived length is greater giving it a more elegant and glamorous character.

RECENT SKETCHES

Today’s young designers are really pushing the boundaries of digital sketching, it’s important for us older designers to keep evolving our sketch styles. In this section I’ll be adding new sketches from time to time.

PROJECT V – PEOPLE CARRIER

Project V was the code name for the collaborative design and engineering project between PSA and Fiat groups that resulted in the Peugeot 807, Citroën C8, Fiat Ulysse and Lancia Phedra people carrier models.

This was my first major project after starting work for PSA Style Avancé in 1996.

PRODUCTION DESIGN – PROJECT G9

PROJECT G9 was the code name for a collaborative project between PSA and Fiat groups to design and engineer a new van and people carrier that resulted in the Peugeot Expert, Citroën Jumpy and Fiat Scudo models.
I was lead production designer for the interior panels of this project which was mostly done at Giugiaro Design’s facilities outside Turin in Italy.

PEUGEOT SPORT RCZ R WHEEL

The brief was to design a large diameter 19″ wheel for the fastest car yet created by Peugeot, the RCZ R developed in conjunction with Peugeot Sport.
My wheel design was chosen and initially featured on the Peugeot RCZ R and 308 R concept cars before being fitted to the Peugeot RCZ R production car and were eventually developed into a more extreme form fitted to the 2015 Exalt Concept car

OLD WORK

Going through old sketches can be a surprising experience, the phrase “what was I thinking?” often comes to mind.
Luckily there are sketches and ideas that have stood the test of time and still look modern.
I have always preferred simple, elegant designs because I believe that timeless, universal beauty is the ultimate goal to aim for as a designer.
